Assoc Prof Deli Chen
Deli Chen is a senior lecturer within the School of Resource Management, Faculty of Land and Food Resources at the University of Melbourne. Deli co-teaches Soil Fertility and Management within the Master of Agricultural Science with Dr Robert Edis.
Deli has extensive research experience in the study of soil nitrogen chemistry, especially in the areas of:
- Water and nutrient dynamics in soil-plant systems, especially nitrogen transformations: gaseous nitrogen losses, mineralization/ immobilization, biological nitrogen fixation.
- Application of 15N stable isotopes to agricultural and environmental studies.
- Greenhouse gas (N2O and CH4) emissions from land systems, especially N2O emissions from land sources.
- Agricultural pollution (nitrate leaching to ground water).
- GIS modeling and decision support systems for irrigation and fertilizer management.
